From Hendersonville to Asheville: Hendo.Today Covers the RAD Renaissance
At Hendo.Today, we believe that Western North Carolina doesn’t just share geography — we share community, creativity, and resilience. And that’s why our team has been out documenting not just Hendersonville’s recovery from Hurricane Helene, but also the powerful comeback stories happening just up the road in Asheville.
Our very own Michael took off into the River Arts District just after the storm — camera in hand — and captured the raw, emotional aftermath that many only heard about. We’ll be sharing more from that journey in the coming weeks in a special video series on both Hendersonville and Asheville’s creative recovery.
But today, we want to make sure you don’t miss what’s coming this weekend:
🎉 RAD Renaissance | May 10, 2025
It’s more than an art walk — it’s a celebration of life, art, and community in Asheville’s beloved River Arts District, a cultural hub that took a heavy hit in the floods and is now rising strong.
Expect:
- 🎨 Open studios & live artist demos
- 🛍️ The launch of the new RAD Art Market
- 🖼️ Gallery strolls through the Upper RAD (Depot St, Clingman Ave, Roberts St & Artful Way)
- 🧡 A day filled with creativity, collaboration, and connection
🎨 Artists You’ll See in Our Video Preview
Two powerful forces in the Asheville art scene that Michael captured:
Andreina Bates
Filmed in the Foundation Studios, with storm damage visible all around, Andreina’s voice and art rise above it all. Her mixed-media work is vibrant, vulnerable, and deeply human — the kind of art that doesn’t just hang on walls, it speaks.
Philip DeAngelo
A true community builder, Philip’s gallery is back open — not just for himself, but for fellow artists who lost their spaces. His luminous landscape work, detailed with metallic leaf and emotion-rich textures, reflects the depth of this region and the people who call it home.
🚗 Hendersonville — Let’s Show Up
We know many of you love a weekend trip to Asheville — well, this is the one to make. If you love art, local business, and real community rebuilding, get on down to the RAD this Saturday, May 10th.
Let’s keep building the bridges between our towns — one story, one studio, and one show of support at a time. 💛
